In The Studio With Mike Snugg Harris!

I'm having a blast working on some tracks for my debut EP in my hometown, Chicago! The EP is entitled "Tramaine Montell" and it is a blend of pop, hip-hop, and dance/house. Today I went in the studio to finish up my verse on a song called "Yes No" by The20Fours. This pair of eclectic rappers are good friends of mine and I am feautring on the track with them. Get ready for something sexy and fun from us. It was nothing but laughs and jammin' out in the studio with them. The collaboration will be apart of my EP as a bonus.

Producer Mike Harris is nothing to play with. He is doing his thing in Chicago music and I'm so happy to be working with him on "Yes No" as well as one of my solo tracks "Exclusive".

The track is being released on my birthday, January 31st 2011. Both tracks will be posted here and at

My son SuperKid Ty's song, "Electricity Shock", has been chosen #1 for a national comepetition! I am so happy for and proud of my little man. He wrote this song on his own as apart of an entire self-written album he's working on called "Green Rabbit". Did I mention he's 8 years old? Preview and download the song here

The Tramaine Experience 1

The Tramaine Experience: An Urban Dramedy • “Montell transforms memory into a living archive, where demolition becomes metaphor.” • “ Cabrini Green Dreams  extends the work’s inquiry, allowing grief and aspiration to sing.” • “A rigorous, humane meditation on displacement in a nation perpetually under renovation.” Theatre Review In  The Tramaine Experience: An Urban Dramedy , Tramaine Montell offers a solo theatrical work that resists both nostalgia and spectacle. What unfolds onstage is neither a sentimental return nor a polemic about loss, but something more exacting: a sustained inquiry into how memory survives when the physical structures that once housed it have been erased. Rooted in Montell’s childhood in Chicago’s Cabrini-Green housing project, the piece arrives in the long shadow of its demolition, interrogating not merely what was destroyed but what continues to reverberate—in bodies, language, and cultural mythologies—long after the skyline has be...

Trauma Therapy Scholarship Letter to The Sanctuary

THE SANCTUARY BRIDGE PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY  Dear Sanctuary Staff, Growing up in Chicago’s Cabrini Green Housing Projects, a community riddled with gangs, violence, and poverty, I defied the odds, earning a Bachelor's Degree in theatre from Syracuse University and Master's Degrees from Harvard University. These accomplishments, celebrated by many as the epitome of success, did little to shield me from the traumatic experiences of my youth, experiences that would shape the course of my life. As I transitioned into adulthood, the insidious effects of the trauma I had endured began to surface. The echoes of my past haunted my emotional well-being, and it became increasingly clear that my journey was far from the conventional success story that others perceived. At the age of 35, the toll of my tumultuous background manifested in a series of devastating losses — my cousin and best friend Andre, fell victim to gun violence; my uncle succumbed to a heroin overdose, and tragically,...
